Privilege Licenses
A Privilege License is a license allowing a person to do business in the County for a profit.
Businesses outside the incorporated areas of the county are required to obtain a Privilege License through Jackson County Tax Collector's Office. Businesses within the incorporated areas need to contact that city.
Step 1
Obtain a Permit for doing business within Jackson County through the Planning Department.
- Business Permit Application (PDF)
- If the location of the New business is in the correct zoning district, the permit will be issued
- If not, the owner must present the following PRIOR to attending a Planning Commission hearing for rezoning:
- Legal Description of business
- Survey
- Names and addresses of person residing within a specified radius of the new business location so they can be notified
- Anything else the Planning Department may ask for
Step 2
Present Permit to Tax Collector's Office along with the required documents listed for each business type:
Average License
- Amount of Inventory (if applicable)
- Number of Full-Time Employees
- Present permit to Tax Collector's Office
Daycare, Salons, & Convenience Stores
- Amount of inventory
- Health Department Permit
- Number of Full-Time Employees
- Present permit to Tax Collector's Office
- State License
- Tobacco/Beer License from State (if applicable)
Contractors
- $2,000 Surety Bond made to Jackson County (jobs under $10,000)
- Number of employees
- Present permit to Tax Collector's Office
- State License for jobs (over $10,000 plus $2,000 Surety bond)
Transient Business
- $2,000 Surety Bond made to Jackson County
- $250 first time fee
- License good for 90 days
- No building or home to work from
- Present permit to Tax Collector's Office
