There are several ways to report a crime. You can call the Sheriff’s Department dispatch at 228-769-3063.  The Sheriff’s Department also offers a mobile app that has the option of reporting a crime.  You can go to the Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers website or call them on the Crime Hotline at 877-787-5898. MS Coast Crime Stoppers also has a mobile app for download “P3 TIPS”. Of course if there is an emergency dial 911.

Both the Sheriff’s mobile app and the Crime Stoppers mobile app offer anonymous crime reporting. Crime Stoppers website also accepts anonymous tips and crime reporting.

If you get a traffic citation or another fine or ticket from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department it will more than likely be handled by the Jackson County Justice Court. You can look at the bottom of your ticket, it should give you the date, time and which court to appear. There are two Justice Court locations in Jackson County. The Main office at:

Victims of a crime can get information at VINE Link. VINE is a solution that lets victims of crime and other concerned citizens access timely and reliable information regarding offenders. It is offered free of charge to registrants, is completely confidential, and features multiple language support. Offering peace of mind, the VINE service lets victims call a toll-free number, visit VINE Link, or use the VINELink™ mobile app to anonymously check on an offender’s custody status. Victims can also register to receive automated notifications about changes in that status via their choice of format phone, email, or text. TTY (hearing impaired) service is also available.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department maintains an Offender Watch portal for the citizens to better understand the facts about sex offenders and what this office is doing to comply with the current laws. Visit the current inmates page to see is the person you are looking for is currently incarcerated at the Adult Detention Center. You can also see what that person is charged with, if that person is bond-able, and the bond amount.

There is no way to call directly to an inmate. The inmate is given a free phone call at the time of intake. After that the phone calls are collect or prepaid. The Jackson County Adult Detention Center uses Securus Technologies for all inmate communication. This includes all phone calls, jail voicemail and video visitation.  Go to the Securus website for scheduling and more information.
