VIEW PRINTABLE RECREATION GUIDELINES - UPDATED AS OF 6/1 /2020
Phase III (June 1-15, 2020) Executive Orders 1491 & 1492 take affect
Any individual who is coughing or showing symptoms of COVID-19 should stay home and are prohibited from coming to any Jackson County Recreation Facility.
1. Boat Ramps & Piers: Open. Social distancing guidelines must be adhered to
2. All Walking Tracks: Open. Social distancing guidelines must be adhered to
3. Whispering Pines: Open
a. Follow all CDC Guidelines for social distancing and gatherings
b. Driving Range and Putting Greens are open with social distancing guidelines
c. Public access to pro shop, indoor facilities, restaurant and restrooms are allowed Kitchen will be open for all orders. Dining Room is open at 50% capacity
d. No more than five players in any one group
e. Tournaments and league play are allowed with social distancing guidelines adhered to. Award ceremonies and meal service will follow social distancing guidelines
f. Two players per cart allowed. Individuals may request individual carts for social distancing reasons
g. Carts are to be sanitized after each round
h. Rakes, water coolers, and ball washers shall be removed from course or otherwise rendered inaccessible to players
i. Cups on greens shall be set normally
j. Flags shall be set up normally
k. Players will be permitted to utilize their own coolers, ice and beverages
l. Restrooms on the course will be opened and sanitized daily
m. Walk-ins will be accepted
n. We reserve the right to ask you to leave if you are coughing or showing symptoms of COVID-19
o. Signage must be placed in a highly visible manner stating the following:
i. Stay at least six feet away from each other
ii. Do not shake hands before or after your game
iii. Do not share clubs or any other equipment
4. Arenas: Open for All
a. Follow all CDC Guidelines for social distancing and gatherings
b. ALL riders allowed; Events allowed for up to 100 people
c. Restrooms will be open
d. Concession Stands will be closed
e. Any person who is coughing or is sick, shall be asked to leave the premises
5. Tennis Courts: Open
a. Social Distancing Guidelines must be adhered to
b. USTA Guidelines for match and league play will be adhered to, and be no less stringent than the Governor of MS has declared them to be.
c. Restrooms will be open, cleaned once daily
6. Athletic Fields: All Leagues and Teams utilizing athletic facilities will meet with the Recreation Department and acknowledge the assumption of the responsibilities in Executive Order 1491 as listed below:
a. Team organized practices are permitted subject to the following limitations:
i. League organizers and/or coaches are responsible for providing a copy of Executive Order 1491 to all players and their parent(s)/guardian(s) prior to resuming team organized practices. This may be done by email or by paper copy.
ii. Each player shall be screened by a coach prior to entering the field for practice. Such screening shall include the following questions, and any player answering any question in the affirmative shall be sent home:
1. Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
2. Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat?
3. Have you had a fever in the last 48 hours?
4. Have you had new loss of taste or smell?
5. Have you had vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours?
i. Players and their parent(s)/guardian(s) shall be required to report any symptoms of COVID-19 to the coach, and any player that exhibits any of the symptoms of COVID-19 during practice shall be sent home immediately and advised to consult with their physician.
ii. Park personnel, volunteers and coaches shall ensure social distancing is maintained between players during practice as much as possible.
iii. Players and coaches shall sanitize their hands before entering the field for practice and after practice.
iv. Dugouts shall not be used during practice. Players bags and equipment shall be lined up against the fence at least 6 feet apart.
v. Parents must remain in their cars during practice.
vi. Players should use their own equipment, and any shared equipment shall be
sanitized by the coach before and after each practice.
vii. Players shall bring their own water/beverages and snacks. Shared drinking
fountains, coolers and snacks are prohibited.
b. Team organized games are permitted subject to the following limitations:
i. Tournament or league organizers and/or coaches are responsible for providing a copy of this Executive Order to all teams and each player and their parent(s)/guardian(s) prior to resuming organized games. This may be done by email or by paper copy.
ii. The combined number of players and coaches participating in a game on a field and fans around the field watching the game shall not exceed 100 people.
iii. Each player shall be screened by a coach prior to entering the field for a game.
Such screening shall include the following questions, and any player answering any question in the affirmative shall be sent home:
1. Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
2. Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat?
3. Have you had a fever in the last 48 hours?
4. Have you had new loss of taste or smell?
5. Have you had vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours?
iv. Players and their parent(s)/guardian(s) shall be required to report any symptoms of COVID-19 to the coach, and any player that exhibits any of the symptoms of COVID-19 during a game shall be sent home immediately and advised to consult with their physician.
v. Coaches shall ensure social distancing is maintained between players as much as
possible.
vi. Players and coaches shall sanitize their hands before entering the field for a game and after each game.
vii. For the safety of the players, dugouts may be used during games. To the extent
possible, players shall social distance while in the dugout.
viii. Players should use their own equipment, and any shared equipment shall be
sanitized by the coach before and after each game.
ix. Players shall bring their own water/beverage and snacks. Shared drinking
fountains, coolers and snacks are prohibited.
x. Concession stands shall remain closed.
xi. Notwithstanding park or tournament rules, players and fans shall be allowed to
bring to the field/complex personal coolers containing water/beverages and snacks for their personal use.
xii. Post-game interaction between teams such as handshakes, high five, etc. is
prohibited. Coaches and tournament organizers are encouraged to develop other distance appropriate measures to show good sportsmanship.
xiii. When a game ends, the teams leaving the field shall sanitize the dugout area and the party responsible for sanitizing the dugout area shall be established before the game commences.
xiv. No post-game talks at the field are permitted. Fans and players shall immediately leave the field and return to their cars.
xv. Fan attendance shall be limited to two household members of each player on the field.
xvi. A sign shall be posted at all points of entry and at each field mandating that fans
shall maintain at all times a minimum of six feet of separation from persons not in their household.
xvii. The use of bleachers for fans is prohibited. Fans must bring their own chairs or
stand. Fans from different households shall maintain a distance of 6 feet of
separation.
xviii. Fans are encouraged to wear a face covering, covering their nose and mouth, while attending games.
xix. Every league, tournament, event or facility shall have a dedicated Safety Officer to ensure that all elements of social distancing are enforced. The Safety Officer shall have sufficient staff to ensure that strict social distancing is observed by all players, coaches and fans at all times.
xx. Fans for upcoming games must remain in their cars until the teams and fans from the preceding game have exited from and around the field
7. Splash Pads, Playgrounds & Outdoor Fitness Equipment: Open for use with 50 people or less.
8. Pavilions: Open for gatherings of standard occupancy per pavilion but not more than 100 people when social distancing is possible and up to 50 people if social distancing is not possible.
9. Restrooms: Park Restrooms shall be open. Athletic Facilities Restrooms shall be open if league play is active. For instance:
a. Latimer Park
b. Inner Harbor Park
c. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park
d. St. Andrews Park
e. Franklin Creek Park
f. Khayat Park
g. St. Martin – Tennis, Boys 5-12 fields
h. Vancleave – Baseball, Tennis, Walking Track and Arena ONLY
i. Jackson County Soccer Complex
j. Helena Youth Complex – Girls ONLY
k. Lum Cumbest Park – Main Park, Playground, Soccer, Baseball and Arena Restrooms ONLY
l. Roy Crane – Closed
m. West Jackson County Soccer Complex – Portolets ONLY
10. Events: Follow Exec. Order 1491 & Exec. Order 1492
11. Tournaments: Rental of Athletic Facilities is NOT allowed. Leagues that are active may hold previously scheduled tournaments as long as they meet these requirements.
