The Lake Mars Pier Expansion is currently in progress and is expected to be complete by early November 2023.
While the pier will remain open to the public during the majority of construction, there will be a need for more intermittent pier closures before the project is complete. Notices of any closures will be posted to the Jackson County Facebook page. Your patience and understanding while the project is being completed is appreciated.
The objectives of the project are as follows:
- Doubling the size of the fishing platform at the southern end of the pier
- Adding a 23 ft x 35 ft pavilion that will be supported by concrete piles
- Pile driving has already been completed
Funds for this project were appropriated by the Mississippi Legislature, 2023 Tidelands Trust Fund, through the Secretary of State, Michael Watson, and the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources.
